RE-ELECT EILEEN JAY ON MARCH 3, 2025

I am excited to run for re-election to the Lexington School Committee on March 3, 2025. I bring the depth of my experience as a School Committee member for the past 9 years—including three years as Chair—as well as my continued passion for providing the best education for our students. As a professional educational researcher and an active parent in our schools for more than 20 years, I care deeply about inspiring students to enjoy the process and joy of learning. Through education, we aim to stimulate their passions and cultivate life-long skills to help them become critical thinkers, caring adults, and engaged citizens of the world.

PRIORITIES

Educating Our Students

  • Advocate for excellence in education that serves students of all abilities
  • Provide challenges that inspire students to reach their academic and personal potential
  • Cultivate life-long skills for critical thinking, engagement, collaboration, and compassion
  • Ensure equitable and inclusive education for all students; address gaps and inequities
  • Adopt a comprehensive curriculum that embraces all cultures, identities, and perspectives
  • Balance academic growth with caring for students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs

District and Community Concerns

  • Prudent planning for the high school building that balances educational and space needs with fiscal concerns
  • Monitor costs to maintain our operating budget while faced with financial pressures from increases in enrollments, transportation costs, and special needs.

We need sound and balanced judgment to address the complex challenges our system faces. I strive to bring a thoughtful, reasoned approach to issues that is informed by key facts, data and information, as well as input from educators and the community. The key to understanding is listening. I have always tried to engage in actively listening to the perspectives of students, staff, parents, and community members which I believe is critical in making informed decisions that best serve our students.
