{"id":461,"date":"2016-02-11T05:31:37","date_gmt":"2016-02-11T05:31:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jayforschoolcommittee.com\/2025\/?p=461"},"modified":"2016-02-14T05:44:25","modified_gmt":"2016-02-14T05:44:25","slug":"jay-will-be-first-rate-on-school-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jayforschoolcommittee.com\/2025\/2016\/02\/11\/jay-will-be-first-rate-on-school-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Jay will be first-rate on School Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #a10303;\">By Van Seasholes<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Eileen Jay has the personal qualities, professional qualifications, and history of service to our community to make her a first-rate member of the School Committee.<\/p>\n<p>I first met Eileen when we were members of a committee planning a memorial to Michael Fiveash, Lexington High School teacher of Latin and mythology.\u00a0 We were in agreement that Michael was one of the very best teachers we had ever known.\u00a0 Eileen contributed much to our work.\u00a0 She listened carefully to other members and made thoughtful comments and suggestions.\u00a0 She was always willing to take on tasks large and small that needed doing.\u00a0 The end result was a memorial program in January 2014 at Cary Hall attended by nearly 300 former students, colleagues, parents, and other members of the community.<\/p>\n<p>Eileen, who has a\u00a0 doctorate in education from Harvard, has worked for twenty years as a parent and community volunteer to help make the Lexington Public Schools the strong institution it is today.\u00a0 <!--more-->The Ad Hoc Committee for Youth at Risk, Lexington Community Coalition Youth Initiative, Lexington Asian Community Alliance, and the Superintendent Search Committee all benefited from her commitment to our schools and town.<\/p>\n<p>Please join me in supporting Eileen Jay for School Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Van Seasholes<br \/>\nMassachusetts\u00a0 Ave<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Van Seasholes Eileen Jay has the personal qualities, professional qualifications, and history of service to our community to make her a first-rate member of the School Committee.
