I am writing to support Eileen Jay for her election to the School Committee.<\/p>\n

I came to know Eileen a few years ago when she started to work with CAAL (Chinese American Association of Lexington) on various school related projects, including the PTO\/PTA forums and issues on Asian student stress. Later she joined CAAL Executive Committee and headed the CAAL Education Committee. I can tell from interacting with her that she cares about the schools and students whole heartedly. As we worked together longer, I got to know that she has professional experience as an educational researcher with a PhD degree from Harvard, that she has actively involved with schools for a long time, and that she has continued to do so even after her kids have all graduated from Lexington school system.<\/p>\n

She is a collaborator and a listener. She is also detail oriented. She works well with anyone. As a matter of fact, she has maintained a very good relationship with our new superintendent, and she has a good relationship with everyone on the current School Committee. I believe she will fit well into the School Committee and help the Committee and the superintendent to work together better.<\/p>\n

<\/a>As a Chinese American, she brings the unique perspective and the understanding of Asian culture. She is a valuable resource to add to School Committee in its dealing with the challenges arising from the demographic changes.<\/p>\n

I want to point out that CAAL has endorsed Eileen after having our candidate forum where we listened to each candidate and had lengthy discussions. I am glad that CAAL chose to endorse Eileen.<\/p>\n
